Opponents' Signatures project
One of its most notable endeavors is the Opponents'
Signatures Project, which is gathering the signatures of all
50 fighters who faced Ali as a professional following his
gold medal in the 1960 Olympics.
To date the Opponents' Signatures collection has 49
authorized signatures, from his first pro fight, versus
Tunney Hunsaker on October 29, 1960, in Louisville, to his
last, versus Trevor Burbick on December 11, 1981, in Nassau,
Bahamas.
One signature remains. The only elusive opponent is Jim
Robinson, who substituted for a scheduled boxer in a Miami
Beach fight in 1961. Readers with information about Mr.
Robinson or any question about the collection are invited to
get in touch with Stephen Singer.
